Saturday 5th June saw the second of our Dip Farm work parties carried out on a fine, early summer morning.
The main focus of our efforts was to tidy up the area around the old golf kiosk and that end of the car park as both areas had become overgrown with weeds and long grass since the closing of the pitch and putt course over two years ago. The reason for concentrating efforts here is that it is hoped that the building can be adapted to provide a much needed refreshment venue and toilet facilities.
We had around fifteen volunteers on the day and as with the first party everyone was eager to get stuck in and make a difference. During the weeding, mowing and edging operations the significant amount of waste vegetation was moved away and deposited into a nearby compost heap previously used for grass cuttings from the putting greens. Also benefitting from a remake were the two bill-boards mounted on the fencing, hopefully these will again be able to advertise local events etc in the near future.
Other work carried out since the first FoDF work party has been the replacement of the old low level car park barriers and also some tree lopping all carried out by Waveney Norse.
The one false start of the day was the installation of the dog refuse signs due to defective equipment _ _ _ oh well can’t win them all!!
